All polishing compound and rouge must be removed by soak cleaning and/or ultrasonic cleaning, rinsed and then steam dried. |
They are then racked to be electrocleaned in DAVIS-K ELECTROCLEANER #900 at 150°F - 180°F for 20-40 seconds, with rectifier set at 6 Volts. THE PARTS SHOULD NOT BE TOUCHED AFTER THIS STEP WITH BARE HANDS. They are then rinsed well and steam dried. They are now ready for Pen Plating |
Pen Plating with DAVIS-K A-301 is done at 6-12 volts (setting on Rhodinette machine at #7 - #10) for 2-5 seconds. The voltage and time depend on the size of the area being plated (eg: isolated prongs at lower range, and larger areas at higher range). Each operator will develop their own parameters depending on the speed at which they work, and the configuration of the parts they are plating. |
A clean pen tip is dipped into the DAVIS-K A-301 PEN PLATING Solution and it is applied to the area to be plated, and moved slowly around that area. This is continued until all the desired areas are plated, and then the completed piece is placed in a vessel containing clean water to stop the reaction. They are then rinsed well and steamed dry. |
